On October 19, 2024, in this golden autumn day in Shenyang, the 10th International Conference on Mechanical Manufacturing Technology and Engineering Materials (ICMTEM 2024) was successfully held on the campus of Shenyang Ligong University. The conference was co-sponsored by Shenyang Ligong University, Shenyang University of Technology and Shenyang University, co-organized by Liaoning Ordnance Engineering Society, Northeastern University, Liaoning University of Technology, Shenyang Jianzhu University, Shenyang Aerospace University, Shenyang University of Chemical Technology and Liaoning University of Science and Technology, and hosted by AEIC Academic Exchange Center. Experts and scholars from relevant fields at home and abroad gathered to discuss the latest progress and future development direction in the field of mechanical manufacturing and engineering materials.
Opening Ceremony
The meeting was officially kicked off in the morning. The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. Wang Xuetao from Shenyang Ligong University. He warmly welcomed the leaders and guests present.
The co-organizers were led by Dean Zhao Hui and Vice President Liang Haicheng and Vice President Wang Yulian from the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Shenyang Ligong University, Dean Wu Yusheng from the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Shenyang University of Technology, Dean Lu Shaowei and Vice President Xu Rongzheng from the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Shenyang Aerospace University, and Vice President Nong Zhisheng and Metallurgy from Liaoning University of Science and Technology Cao Yi, vice president of the School of Materials Engineering, demonstrated the importance and support of all parties to academic exchanges.
Professor Du Zhonghua, Vice President of Shenyang Ligong University, delivered an enthusiastic opening speech, fully affirming the importance of academic exchanges in promoting scientific and technological progress and social development. He said that the successful holding of ICMTEM 2024 will surely inject new vitality into the innovative research of mechanical manufacturing and engineering materials.
Wonderful Conference Speech
The presentation session of the conference was chaired by Professor Yu Hailiang from Central South University, whose professional guidance made the conference full of academic vitality from the beginning.
Focus on innovative applications of nanostructures
The first speaker was Professor Li Xinyong from Dalian University of Technology, who gave a talk entitled "Rational Design of Nano Ferrite oxides for Sustainable Applications". Professor Li's deep and simple explanation of the potential of multi-functional nanomaterials in modern applications, especially the unique role in green catalysis and energy conversion, aroused strong attention from the participants.

Research on micro-structure technology
Next, Professor Guo Jiang from Dalian University of Technology presented a report entitled "High Performance Polishing Technology for the surface of Micro-structure". He details the various emerging polishing methods and analyzes their advantages and disadvantages. By reviewing the latest progress in the surface polishing technology of micro-structure, he provided a new idea for future research and triggered a heated discussion among experts and scholars in the field.
Expert Introduction
Guo Jiang, professor of Dalian University of Technology, doctoral supervisor, Doctor of the University of Tokyo, Japan, winner of the National Overseas High-level Talent Introduction Program - Youth project, Liaoning "Xingliao Talent Program" young top talent. Before returning to China, he worked as a researcher at RIken Institute in Japan and Singapore Science and Technology Bureau. Mainly engaged in precision/ultra-precision machining, optical manufacturing, laser processing, metal substrate forming and other aspects of the research. The Research results were selected as 2018 A*STAR Research Highlights by Singapore Science and Technology Bureau.
Green manufacturing and efficient batteries
Subsequently, Professor Ali Reza Kamali from the University of Cambridge and Northeastern University gave a share entitled "Green Manufacturing of Nanostructured Silicon Materials for High-Performance lithium-ion batteries". With vivid examples, Professor Kamali described the application prospects of silicon materials in lithium-ion batteries, and proposed a balance strategy of green production and high performance, which opened a new door for the development of sustainable technology.

Kamali is a senior Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a distinguished Professor at the School of Metallurgy, Northeastern University, Director of the Energy and Environmental Materials Research Center (E2MC), and a director, principal scientist or consultant for several advanced materials companies. He mainly researches and develops green technology, sustainably produces advanced materials for energy and environmental applications, and invented green and low-cost production methods of materials. He has won many awards such as Khwarazmi International Award, National Expert Award, National Natural Science Foundation Outstanding Young Scientist Award, and Shenyang Rose Award.
Frontier exploration of Fe based magnetic materials
At the end of the conference report, Professor Pei Wenli from Northeastern University introduced "Morphology control and structural regulation of Fe based magnetic nanomaterials". His report revealed the application prospects of nanoparticles in micro and nano devices, biomedicine and other fields, especially the research on structural controllability through element doping, and provided new ideas for the development of innovative materials.
Expert Introduction
Pei Wenli, his research interests include: high-performance rare earth permanent magnet materials, low-dimensional magnetic nanomaterials, rare earth functional materials, magnetic functional materials and devices. He presided over 4 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 1 key special sub-project, and participated in 5 National Natural Science Foundation projects, and 1 national key special project and research project each. Obtained 29 authorized national invention patents. Published more than 120 academic papers indexed by SCI.
A thriving forum for new young scholars
The Young Scholars Forum in the afternoon brought the meeting to another climax. Eight young scholars from different universities took the stage to deliver keynote presentations: Professor Hou Zhaoxia from Shenyang University, Professor Lu Xiao from Shenyang Polytechnic University, Professor Ben Shuang and Associate Professor Wenmingyue, Associate Professor Wu Yuhan from Shenyang University of Technology, and Dr. LAN Qing, Dr. Zhai Zihui and Dr. Liu Feng from Shenyang University of Technology. The contents of the report cover a number of cutting-edge research in the field, reflecting the innovative awareness and excellent ability of young scholars in scientific exploration.

The oral presentation and poster presentation in the afternoon also won a warm welcome from the participants. Participants communicated and interacted with experts and scholars through lively oral presentations and illustrated posters. This session not only showcases a diverse range of research perspectives, but also provides an excellent opportunity for participants to discuss, collaborate and learn face-to-face.
